2 Shires Credit Union

Credit unions aim to help people take control of their money by encouraging them to save what they can, and borrow only what they can afford to repay. They are community savings and loan cooperatives. 2 Shires Credit Union offers local people a friendly way to save and borrow.

3 Valleys Project

As a Countryside Service volunteer, people can get involved with all manner of countryside management work, ranging from wildlife conservation to visitor care. The project has work indoors and out, mid-week and at weekends.

Action Housing

This scheme focuses on the needs of 18-24 year olds living in the North Derbyshire area who are unable to remain within the family home. The scheme will provide a positive environment from which to pursue education, training, apprenticeships or employment.

Active Choices - Derby County Community Trust

Active Choices is a healthy lifestyle and behavioural change programme which helps people who have struggled with substance misuse issues. It has helped over 500 people with drug and alcohol problems to turn their lives around, which has given them the opportunity to receive one-to-one support and take part in worthwhile activities at a critical point in their recovery. Activities include: •Gym •Social football •Circuits •Boxing •Swimming •Representing Derby County at regional and national football tournaments •Walking group •Sporting qualifications •Monthly community meal The programme has been instrumental in Derby successfully improving the number of drug-free exits from treatment services through a personalised plan that introduces structured and meaningful activities into individuals’ daily routines. The service also works with individuals with drug problems returning to the community from custodial prison sentences, supporting them to change behaviours to break offending patterns.

African Caribbean Community Association

Meeting venue: 87 New Square, Chesterfield S40 1AH. Opening times: 9.30am - 4.30pm Monday, 9.30am - 4.30pm Tuesday, 9.30am - 4.30pm alternate Wednesdays. Accessibility: Wheelchair access. Charges: £4.50 per annum joining fee.

Alma Fishing Club (North Wingfield)

1st Friday of the month at the White Hart, North Wingfield at 7.30pm. Accessibility: There are car parking spaces for five disabled members at any one time at the side of the pond. Also has four pegs which are accessible for wheel chair users. Charges: Adult membership £20 per year.

Amber Valley Adult Recovery

The Amber Valley Neighbourhood team provides mental health support to adults regardless of age; this support is based on individuals’ needs. The team will work with you to help you find both short-term and longer-term ways to improve your mental health, and to focus on healthy living and behaviours.

Amber Valley Volunteer Service

We have a dedicated Volunteer Centre at our office in Ripley that is for people who live in Amber Valley. If you would like more information about volunteering and the opportunities available in the area, we have all the information you need.

Bolsover Volunteer Centre

The volunteer Centre promotes volunteering to the general public and supports local groups and organisations with their volunteering good practice. This includes developing and marketing volunteering roles and brokering prospective volunteers into appropriate opportunities.
