Did You Know? By joining the Stand To Project, Veterans can access a wide range of supportive and engaging opportunities—including weekly MESS (Mutual Engagement & Support Sessions).
Did you also know? STAND TO now offers: Recovery for All events—open to anyone in recovery, veteran or not? The next event takes place walking around Holmebrook Country Park on Wednesday 17th September 2025.
The walk will begin and end at Holmebrook Country Park Café, taking in some of the area’s most scenic spots. Participants will enjoy a gentle stroll around Holmebrook Valley Park Lake and fishing pond, before following the brook through tranquil woodland and continuing up to Linacre Reservoirs and their surrounding forest. After exploring the reservoirs, the group will return to Holmebrook Valley Country Park along the same picturesque route.

About Stand To – Veteran Led Recovery Connections
STAND TO is a veteran-focused support service run by experienced staff, many with military backgrounds, who understand the unique challenges faced by ex-armed forces personnel and their families—especially around alcohol and substance misuse. They offer:
- Veteran-to-veteran support – confidential, understanding help from people who’ve been there.
- Befriending services – regular check-ins, chats, and companionship to reduce isolation.
- Recovery activities – from gentle walks and coffee meetups to more adventurous options like water sports and archery.
- MESS groups (Mutual Ex-Service Support) – peer-led support groups held across Derbyshire to encourage connection and shared recovery.
- Social and physical wellbeing events – designed to boost confidence, build friendships, and support long-term recovery.
Chris, the Veteran Recovery Link Worker and volunteers are there to help at every stage of recovery!
