Recovery Project Event - STAND TO: Veterans Group Walk – 12 July 2023

Posted on: 14 Aug 2023

On 12th July 2023, our partners at STAND TO took a group of veterans on a wellbeing walk along White Edge and Curbar Edge, moral was high as the rain held off at the start and as we made our way up to White Edge across the Moor, (apparently it looked like Sennybridge – wherever that is).

Opportunities were taken to get to know one and another and stories were recalled from days gone by.

The terrain was firm and as we reached the ridge heart rates had increased, a good fitness test for all.  On reaching the midpoint it started to drizzle slightly, and on crossing the road we took shelter under the trees eating as we stood, with more laughing about the good old days.

The rain disappeared as quickly as it arrived, and the sun shone through giving stunning views down the valley as far as Chatsworth House (We are so privileged to reside in such a beautiful place).  We remembered doing the same walk in November 2022 with no views at all – what a refreshing change.

We look forward to our next challenge moving forward!
