New UK Government Emergency Alert System - Sunday, 23 April 2023

Posted on: 19 Apr 2023

The UK Government are testing their new emergency alert system nationally on Sunday, 23 April 2023 at 3pm.

The system will warn people when their lives are in danger.  An Emergency Alert is a loud, siren-like sound with a message on your mobile phone screen.

You may rely on a hidden mobile phone?  People who experience domestic abuse can switch off the government’s new emergency alert system to stop any hidden phone being found.

Please find attached a link to an easy read information leaflet and a more detailed factsheet for further information about the new system.
