Derbyshire Health and Wellbeing Board
The Health and Wellbeing Board is a committee of Derbyshire County Council and is chaired by our Cabinet Member for Health and Communities and includes representatives from other organisations.
These representatives include district and borough councils, Healthwatch Derbyshire, Derby and Derbyshire ICB, voluntary sector, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, Derbyshire Constabulary, Primary Care, and healthcare providers.
Derbyshire Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA)
The Health and Wellbeing Board is responsible for identifying and developing an understanding of the needs and priorities of local communities in Derbyshire. This is done through the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA).
The JSNA reports on the health and wellbeing needs of people in Derbyshire. It brings together data on local health and wellbeing needs and looks ahead at emerging challenges and any future needs.
This information then guides the future planning and commissioning of health and wellbeing services in Derbyshire.
The first JSNA was developed in 2008 and is reviewed and refreshed annually to take into account the latest evidence and data, including work on specific topics or themes.
Derbyshire Observatory
The Derbyshire Observatory has more about the JSNA and the evidence and data that’s been used in its creation. This involves:
- mapping assets and resources already available locally
- assessments of health needs
- the impact on health of any major developments or changes
- data profiles of different areas or groups within Derbyshire
- reviews of evidence – for example the effectiveness of interventions
