This film is not just a window into the world of addiction—it’s a call to action. Recovery is not a straight line, but it is a lifeline. The message is clear: recovery isn’t just possible—it’s powerful, real, and life-changing. In recovery, no one is ever alone.

The documentary dedicates a section to volunteering and giving back, showing how these have been central to people’s recovery journeys and sense of purpose. This theme reflects the volunteering activity already happening in Derbyshire through the Lived Experience Pathway, where individuals in recovery contribute to their communities and support others. More information on the Level 1 and Enhanced Skills courses will be shared soon via GRID and social media.

This resource supports Derbyshire’s recovery strategy aims of making recovery visible, celebrated, and accessible. The county already has the core components of a Recovery-Oriented System of Care, and the skills within the system to produce similar resources that showcase the incredible work happening locally.

With thanks to the Northamptonshire Combatting Drugs and Alcohol Partnership (CDP) Board for investing in the creation of this film and enabling these powerful stories to be told.
