From 20 June 2023 the East Midlands Gambling Harms Service, a Derbyshire Healthcare-led service, has been launched to offer specialist treatment and support to people struggling with a gambling problem.
The service, which is based in Derby, will provide specialist therapies, treatment and recovery to those affected by gambling addiction and gambling problems in Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire and Rutland.
The team providing the free service will include clinical psychologists, therapists, mental health practitioners and psychiatrists as well as experts-by-experience.
Most support will be provided through virtual treatment programmes and group workshops. Further support and advice will be available to family members and carers, and the service will work alongside many other agencies to help with problems such as mental health, debt management and housing.
Service referrals
The service is now accepting referrals and individuals who are concerned about their gambling can refer themselves or ask a health professional to make a referral for them.
If you work with someone who you feel would benefit from the support of this service, please visit the East Midlands Gambling Harms Service website for more information, including details of who the team can help. There is a page specifically about self-referrals and a page for professionals.
To make a referral, call the service on 0300 013 2330 or email dhcft.emgamblingharms@nhs.net
