What to Expect:
This interactive afternoon invites people of all ages (with supervision) to enjoy hands-on animal encounters, relax over afternoon tea, and connect with others in a welcoming, recovery-focused space. CVS staff will be on hand to chat about local services and the Future Focus project, which supports confidence-building and personal development.

🌱SD CVS – Future Focus Project
If you like the sound of this, are someone in recovery, and are local to Derbyshire — here’s how you can get involved in a longer-term opportunity to build confidence, skills, and purpose.
Future Focus is a six-week training and support programme designed for individuals in recovery across South Derbyshire. It offers AIM-accredited and assured qualifications through flexible, modular courses delivered in community venues across Swadlincote, Hilton, and Melbourne.
The programme includes:
- Three core modules: personal emotional resilience, developing independent skills, and making choices.
- Three additional modules tailored to group interests, such as hobbies, community knowledge, or environmental issues.
- Access to the Time Swap service, offering short-term, local volunteering opportunities.
Although based in South Derbyshire, the programme is open to any Derbyshire County resident (excluding Derby City).
