Growing Lives participants marked Recovery Month 2025 with a five‑mile community walk around Ilkeston, creating space for connection, fresh air, and reflection. The group set off along the Erewash Canal and Nottingham Canal, taking in views of the historic Bennerley Viaduct as they walked together. Fourteen people took part in the activity, offering those in recovery a positive and healthy way to spend time with others, build confidence, and share experiences.
They were joined by members of Stand To and Recovery Connectors, highlighting the strength of partnership working and the value of community support throughout the recovery journey. After returning to the Growing Lives site, everyone enjoyed lunch together – with homemade carrot and chocolate cakes, made by one of the participants, becoming a particularly well‑loved highlight of the day.
